I read a quote by Muhammad Ali that said “I hate every minute of training. But I said, don’t quit. Suffer now, and live the rest of your life as a champion.” That really resonates with me.
If you’ve read my bio, one of the things I state is that I’m just an average guy. What prompted me to follow my own fitness journey and ultimately to start this blog was a self challenge of “what if?” What if i sucked it up and stuck to a 90 day program without cheating, following the diet guidelines and the workout schedule, and really pushing myself? The result, as they say, is history. Here I am now, trying to inspire others to follow the same life changing path that I followed.
But as Ali points out, it wasn’t all roses and lollipops, very frequently, I hated working out. I didn’t feel like doing it, or I wanted to go out and eat cheeseburgers, or desserts, or worse still in some ways, I had a bad workout, where I just felt like I was going through the motions.
The truth of the matter is that none of that mattered. Every half-hearted workout that I pushed myself to complete anyway still added up to something, and that something, was better than the nothing that I would have done instead, or worse still, the backslide I would have done instead.
So push yourself. Stay true to your workouts and diet plans.
What if?
