Motivational Monday: Getting BACK on the Wagon

I screwed up! I made a commitment and I fell off the wagon. I made an implied promise to you guys to post something motivational each Monday, and I’ve done a relatively decent job of it. But last Monday, I dropped the ball. I completely spaced out getting something together for you, and now, here I sit; tapping out an apology on my keyboard for letting you down. So formally: I’m sorry.

With that said though, it does raise a good point. What do YOU do when you fall off the fitness wagon? Do you throw in the towel? Do you give up and move on with the rest of your life, knowing that you were forming a good habit, but you slipped up so “screw it”?

The truth is, you’re very likely to fall off of the wagon and miss a workout, or overindulge in a bad meal and see that dreaded number on the scale go up instead of down. What counts is how you choose to deal with that setback. And it’ll come. It’s probably waiting somewhere ahead of you in a dark alley with a lead pipe to knock you off the path that’s taking you to your goals.

When the time comes, I hope that you’ll make the same choice that I did, and jump back on the wagon. Shrug off that setback like the nothing that it really is in the grand scheme of your life. And when it happens again, hop right back up there. It’s how we deal with the challenges in life that really counts. Being committed to health and fitness is easy when you’re consistent and haven’t screwed up. What really measures our resolve is how we deal with the tough times, the times where it’s hard to stay committed.

From me to you, I hope that I never miss another post on this blog, but if I do, I’ll be back. Stick with your commitment to this journey as well, it’s more than worth it!
