Motivational Monday: A Moment On Oprah’s Couch…

So the other day, it happened to me. It was a Monday – much like today, I’d had a long day, and came home from work feeling beaten from a grueling day in the salt mines. OK, I don’t actually work IN a salt mine, but some days just feel that way – know what I mean? In any case, I really didn’t feel like going to the gym. All I wanted to do was park my butt on the couch, eat a little dinner and unwind. I knew better though and pushed myself to honor my commitment to myself and my health and went to boxing even though I wasn’t really feeling it. As expected, after the workout, I felt great – tired, but great, and proud of myself for pushing through the negativity.

I’m not telling you this because I want to pat myself on the back for a job well done. Rather to let you know that you’re not alone. I can remember seeing really fit people and thinking to myself “man, they must never have an off day.” After 5 years of this fitness adventure, I think I can call myself one of those people, and I’m here to tell you, we all feel that way.

So the next time you’re up and at em for your 5am run, or feel like giving in to that meal that you know is bad for you, just know that you’re not alone. It’s just as hard for the super fit guy or girl you see at the gym. The only difference is the habit. Push through that struggle and know that you’re in good company. You’ll get there!
