I saw a quote “Don’t stop when you’re tired, stop when you’re done.” It really hit me as it relates to having a plan. Not just in fitness, but in all things in life.
Fitness is a great illustrator of this lesson, if you just wander into a gym with no plan, or goal, then it’s easy to hop on random machines and push until you’re tired and then go home. You’ll wear yourself out, but likely won’t see any real results. But if you have a plan, if you write down what you’ll do, how much you’ll do and when you’re done before ever setting foot in the gym, then you’ll know if you’re quitting or really putting forth the effort to make changes. You’ll push harder and stop when you’re done.
Life is the same way, if you fail to plan, then you’re planning to fail.
